pizza party

dough recipe found here

kneading away

poof

fresh toppings

all the love and patience of rolling

pepperoni, mushrooms, cheddar, goats cheese, sun dried tomato and marinara sauce

bbq sauce, brie, tomatoes, parmesan and steak

i thought i would try my hand at pizza making yesterday and throw an impromptu dinner party for my family who i haven't seen a lot of recently (very productive for me). to be honest the biggest surprise of all in the process was that pizza is really not that simple to make! or shall i rephrase that.....DOUGH.....is not that easy to make! all the kneading and waiting for it the rise and then rolling it.....it requires a lot of patience and love. this is why i am not a baker, i just have no patience when it comes to the science of baking. on a brighter note i did it and i will certainly do it again because let's be honest, homemade always tastes better and everyone loves pizza.

product testing

had a little fun at the supermarket

l'oreal ever sleek shampoo and conditioner, venus razor blades, dove sensitive deodorant, palmers coco butter, playtex gentle glide
oh bathroom products, how i love thee. i get such satisfaction from going to the supermarket or drugstore and picking up a new bottle of shampoo or fresh razor blades. i also love trying new products and mixing it up sometimes. i never use the same deodorant twice, i like different smelling creams and i really love when there is a product that is on sale and you get to try it out at a discounted price (such a satisfying feeling). these are a few things i picked up this week to test out.

results:

shampoo and conditioner: amazing smell, makes my hair silky and smooth. even though it is for frizzy hair i find it works brilliantly for straight hair. i typically like herbal essence as mentioned here, but i could be swayed to stick with this brand...even if it is a tad bit more expensive.
venus blades: i have used these before, but i switched to disposables awhile back because venus blades are a fortune ($28 CAD!!) but they are only $24 BDS so i thought it was a bit of a steal! have to say they are much better than a two blade disposable. (i bought the venus razor too! it was $8 BDS...so inexpensive)
dove deodorant: i always buy a different deodorant but recently i have been more into the solid white glide on. most all deodorants promote no white residue and blah blah blah but this one actually is decent and smells pretty all day long! success
cocoa butter: i usually use vaseline's cocoa butter cream but my sister told me to try this one from palmers and i actually like it a bit more. it has a more intense scent but i kinda like that for summer weather. i give this one a buy.
tampons: well tampons are tampons but what do we think. plastic vs. paper?? sort of a weird question but i am curious what everyone thinks? environment vs. comfort?

being proactive

missing this silly goose already. however i now have some time by myself at home before i leave for my last year of school to run errands, see family and friends and tie up loose ends. so i have made a little list of things i need to do before i go! hopefully if i write it down it will encourage me to stop being a procrastinator (one of my worst habits) and start being more proactive!

list:

  • pack up my room
  • sort out school fees
  • see all my family before i leave
  • go duty-free shopping for make-up
  • tan....a lot
  • go to dentist...which means make appointment
  • take lots of pictures of family and friends for my room away
  • go for a visit to my papa's house (will take pictures as evidence)
  • finish my book "the help"
so maybe i am sad he is gone and it is going to be a long time until we see each other but i am destined to keep myself busy so i don't think about missing him too much!

light lunch

had such a yum lunch in a hurry the other day and wanted to share! baby tomato chopped with feta, oregano and light olive oil tossed into a salad on toast is easy peasy lemon squeezy. with an ice cold diet coke it is perfection.
this weekend i am saying goodbye to boyfriend as he is off to england and i am preparing to head back north for my last year of uni! oh back to long distance yet again....tear tear. will catch up with all you chicks on monday <3

one of my favourite colour combos has to be pink and gold. everything always looks better with a little hit of pink but then when you add some rich gold hues it is truly perfection. it's super girly and fun and that is sometimes a nice alternative to the ever traditional and classic colour ensembles i am typically drawn to. <3

lusting leather: j.crew

classic leather flat

newsstand tote

marlow tote

brompton hobo
this fall i am craving some serious camel coloured leather. if you are going to invest in leather though, you should really invest in classic, timeless pieces to avoid spending an absolute fortune on trendy items that will look dated by next season. j.crew has chic and classic pieces that are reasonably priced and great quality. seriously loving their accessories this year! other shops for timeless leather goods? gap, banana republic, zara and coach. <3
